Emergencies and First Aid
Emergency Response
As specified in Club’s By-Laws, Royal Sydney has a set of established Emergency Response and First Aid procedures to ensure the safety and care of all members, guests and staff at the Club.
Medical Emergencies
The Club’s most common form of emergency response is a Medical Emergency. In the case of a Medical Emergency:
- 1. If an Emergency Contact Point is accessible, press the red button.
- 2. If an Emergency Contact Point is not accessible, contact Reception on (02) 8362 7000 (use of mobile phones is permitted in event of an emergency).
- 3. Be prepared to provide your: name, location, and details of the medical emergency.
- 4. During any emergency, follow the directions of either the attending Emergency Response Officer, or any Wardens or First Aid Officers.
Automated External Defibrillator
There is an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) located on the Championship Course at the 10th Tee. The AED cabinet is remotely monitored by Reception and features an intercom which connects the user to the Chief Warden (Emergency Response Team).
Click here for instructions on how to use the AED.
Emergency Evacuations
To ensure you are prepared for an Emergency Evacuation, please be aware of the following:
- The Club’s alarm tones; ‘beep, beep’ means wait for instruction. ‘whoop, whoop’ means evacuate
- The location of your closest emergency exit
- Assembly points when evacuated; the main assembly point is First Fairway, Championship Course
- Club emergency personnel; Emergency Response Officer, Wardens, First Aid Officers
- Location of an Emergency Contact Point, First Aid Kits, Emergency Response Plan
During an emergency evacuation follow the directions of the Club’s Wardens. Wardens can be identified by colour coded vests:
![]() Chief Warden (or Deputy) – White vest |
![]() Area Warden – Red vest |
Evacuation Procedure
- 1. On hearing an emergency warning signal (beep, beep), prepare to evacuate and wait for instructions.
- 2. On hearing an emergency evacuation signal (whoop, whoop) or a verbal command, promptly leave the area via the emergency exit (calmly, do not run).
- 3. Proceed to the designated assembly point (refer to the diagrams below).
- 4. Follow the directions of the Area Wardens or Chief Wardens.
- 5. Offer to assist people with decreased mobility.
- 6. Continue to obey the instructions of the Wardens at the assembly point.
- 7. Do not re-enter the area. Remain at the assembly point until told to leave.
First Aid & Medical Provisions
Royal Sydney has approximately 60 First Aid-qualified staff across all areas of the Club. These staff members undergo regular training and are equipped to respond to medical situations.
Emergency Response Packs
Emergency Response Packs are kept at Reception, the Fitness Centre / Service Desk, Sport Shop / Emergency Cart and Links Turfcare Facility (located near the Centenary Course 4th Hole). Each pack includes:
- Defibrillator
- Oxygen bottle
- Epi-Pen
- Pulse Oxymometer

Numerous, smaller First Aid packs for treating minor injuries are located throughout the Club.
