
Richard Michaels
Part of General Committee since 2018
Richard joined Royal Sydney Golf Club in 1993 after a long a successful career in yachting at the Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club and the Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron.
In early 2016, Richard became a member of the Management Team for the 2016 Australian Open at Royal Sydney and specifically accepted the role of Deputy Chief Marshall responsible for all the on-course volunteers.
In 2018 Richard joined the General Committee and the Green and Match Committee.
Educated at Sydney Boys High and the University of NSW, Richard gained a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering and then pursued a successful corporate career, spending time with companies such as The Colonial Sugar Refining Company, Rheem Australia Ltd and North Broken Hill Peko. His last corporate role was Managing Director of Yorkshire Fittings Pty Ltd, an overseas subsidiary of IMI plc, based in Birmingham, UK.
In 1998 Richard purchased Zetco Pty Ltd a small private business importing valves from Italy for the plumbing Industry. Richard has recently retired from full time work at Zetco which is now managed by his son.
Richard and his wife Dimity have two grown up children, and all the family are members of the Club.
Richard plays golf regularly, both during the week and on Saturdays.
